Curatorial talk with Koyo Kouoh

Join us at the Belltable Arts Centre on Friday15 April at 11am for a curatorial talk with Koyo Kouoh. This talk will be in discussion with EVA International Curatorial Assistants, Noelle Collins and Eva Barois De Caevel. 

Koyo Kouoh

Koyo Kouoh is the founding artistic director of RAW Material Company, a center for art, knowledge and society in Dakar and the curator of FORUM, the education programme at1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London and New York. Kouoh trained in Banking Administration and Cultural Management in Switzerland and France. 

She served in the curatorial teams for documenta 12 (2007) and documenta 13 (2012). Her recent projects include: "Body Talk: Feminism, Sexuality and the Body in the work of six African women artists", WIELS, Lunds Konsthall, 49N6E FRAC Lorraine (2015–2016); "Precarious Imaging: Visibility surrounding African Queerness", RAW Material Company (2014); "Word!Word?Word! Issa Samb and the undecipherable form", RAW Material Company/OCA/Sternberg Press (2013), the first monograph dedicated to the work of seminal Senegalese artist Issa Samb; "Condition Report on Building Art Institutions in Africa", a collection of essays resulting from the eponymous symposium held in Dakar in January 2012; "Chronicle of a Revolt: Photographs of a Season of Protest", RAW Material Company & Haus der Kulturen der Welt (2012).

Eva Barois De Caevel

Eva Barois De Caevel is an independent curator, researcher and art critic based in Paris. She completed a curatorial residency at RAW Material Company where she coordinated a year long programme (January 2014 to January 2015) on sexual liberties in Africa through contemporary African art. At the end of this residency, she was offered a position as Assistant Curator at RAW Material Company. She also continued her collaboration with RAW director and EVA 2016 curator Koyo Kouoh, working with her on several projects, such as Body Talk - Feminism, Sexuality and the Body in the Work of Six African Women Artists (at WIELS, Brussels, February - May 2015) and Streamlines (at Deichtorhallen, Hamburg, December 2015 - March 2016). Eva graduated from the Université de Paris-Sorbonne Paris IV in Contemporary Art History in 2011 and in Curatorial Training in 2012.

Noelle Collins

Noelle Collins (b.1984) is an artist and curator who lives and works in Limerick city.  As the first EVA International Scholar she is currently undertaking a 2 year MA in Curatorial Studies through Limerick School of Art and Design, LIT. With an interest in collaborative projects and curatorial practice, she has devised and delivered exhibitions and events with EVA International - Ireland's Biennial,  Limerick City Gallery of Art and held the position of Director atOccupy Space from 2011- 2013.

Recent Projects include: Curatorial Assistant AGITATIONISM- Curated by Bassam El Baroni, EVA 2014; Project Manager of Artistic Justice, Limerick/Marrakech/Dublin; Curator of Amharc Fhine Gall IX: Eternal Light, Draíocht, Blanchardstown,Dublin; Project Manager of Curating Partnerships; Creative Consultant for Sultan Bacchus Theatre Company, France & Egypt; Editorial Assistant & Exhibition Manager After the Future- Curated by Annie Fletcher, EVA 2012; Co-Curator (with Kevin O’Keeffe) of The Active Archive at Limerick City Gallery of Art; Curator of The Wood between the Worlds, Occupy Space, Thomas Street, Limerick.
