Join us for another edition of EVA International in 2018
Still (the) Barbarians curated by Koyo Kouoh is now officially over. For over 13 weeks EVA International has brought national and international artworks to Limerick city, showcasing over 57 artists across six venues.
2016 is a meaningful year for Ireland as it marks the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising, a moment of great significance in the struggle for liberation from British colonial rule. Responding to the context of the centenary, EVA International 2016 curated by Koyo Kouoh was entitled Still (the) Barbarians and investigated the post-colonial condition of Ireland as a point of departure from where artistic reflections, critical redefinitions and political transformations are articulated.
The biennial programme addressed artistic, architectural, literary and critical positions that interpreted colonial effects on the psyche, landscape and imagination, and that continue to shape our present condition.
This was the first year that the EVA International catalogue was produced both in Irish and English. You can now purchase the catalogue here.
